"Country Calendar" Goes Green

Country Calendar DVD coverTV show Country Calendar has showcased many of New Zealand's leading organic and biodynamic farmers since airing their first organic story in 1976.

Over the years the show has featured organic and biodynamic vineyards, sheep and beef farms, dairy farms and horticultural blocks.  Invariably these stories have aroused huge interest with viewers, and Country Calendar has released a special DVD featuring 11 organic success stories.

 

Over the Fencepost: Alternatives to CCA-treated timber

"Over the Fencepost: Alternatives to CCA-treated timber" is a new resource from OANZ which has been released in response to US Department of Agriculture requirements that organic producers discontinue the installation of CCA-treated timber on USDA-certified organic properties from 1 July 2010.

 

New Zealand Organic Report 2010

The New Zealand Organic Report 2010, commissioned by OANZ and the Organic Products Exporters of New Zealand Inc. (OPENZ), shows the increasing domestic, export and environmental value of organic food and beverage products in New Zealand.  Showing strong growth since 2007, the total economic value of organics to New Zealand in 2009 was $485million, putting the sector on track to achieve it's target of $1billion value by 2013.

This research - conducted by the University of Otago's Centre for the Study of Agriculture, Food and Environment in association with The AgriBusiness Group - is internationally recognised as the definative report on New Zealand's organic sector.
